About the Author
Operations Leader · Leadership Coach · Author · Speaker
Tony Rodriguez is not a theorist. He is a practitioner. Over a 15-year career as an Operations Manager at FedEx Express, Tony led aircraft ramp operations and hub flight operations — one of the most demanding, high-stakes environments in global logistics — managing complex teams, enforcing operational standards, and delivering results under pressure every single day.
As a member of FedEx's CSM (Control Self Management) team, Tony traveled to ramp locations across the country to review specific areas of policy and ensure each location followed documented procedures accordingly — giving him a rare, cross-organizational view of what separates high-performing leadership cultures from dysfunctional ones.
Beyond FedEx, Tony has owned and operated a large-scale cannabis operation and a restaurant — two industries where leadership directly determines survival. Across his career, Tony has managed more than 3,000 employees. The Art of Leadership is the distillation of everything he learned leading at that scale.

The Experience Behind the Framework
Tony's leadership philosophy was forged across industries, organizations, and thousands of real human interactions — not in a seminar room.
Led hub operations at one of the world's most demanding logistics companies. Responsible for large-scale teams, safety compliance, and operational performance under constant pressure.
Across FedEx, a large cannabis operation, and a restaurant — Tony has led at every level, from frontline supervisors to executive teams, across multiple industries.
Owned and operated a large-scale cannabis business and a restaurant — two industries where leadership directly determines whether the business survives or fails.

The Control Self Management Team
As part of FedEx's Control Self Management (CSM) team, Tony traveled to ramp locations across the country to review specific areas of policy and verify that each location followed documented procedures accordingly. He was not there to manage — he was there to assess. That distinction matters: it gave him an objective, cross-organizational lens on what operational and leadership compliance actually looks like in practice versus on paper.
That experience gave Tony something most leadership coaches never have: a systematic, cross-organizational understanding of the gap between how leaders think they lead and how their teams actually experience them. That gap is exactly what The Art of Leadership Assessment is designed to close.

The Book
Building Trust. Creating Consistency. Leading with Intention.
Unlike traditional leadership books that focus on theory, The Art of Leadership is built around practical frameworks drawn from 15+ years of leading at scale in one of America's most demanding operational environments. It addresses the gap between how leaders think they lead and how their teams actually experience their leadership.
The book is organized around four pillars — Trust, Consistency, Value, and Service — and provides real-world tools for closing the gap between intention and impact. Leadership Mirror is the companion platform that measures exactly where you stand across all 21 components.
